Kenya Conflict Update

The Conflict in Kenya continues to heat up, as of today the UN estimates that some 800 people are dead, The killings have more than doubled the amount of 320 in which I wrote about on January 12.

Former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan on Tuesday pleaded with Kenya's government to take "extraordinary measures" to protect civilians hours after an opposition lawmaker was killed outside his home in Nairobi.

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice spoke of her concern about Kenya’s violence, saying she plans to speak with Annan soon about possible solutions.

"There needs to be a political resolution of this conflict, The election was not one that inspired confidence in the Kenyan people and, therefore, there needs to be a political arrangement, a political solution between the major opposition candidate and the president."

Our fingers are crossed to that this violence ends as soon as possible.
