The Global Warming Crisis

People think that if Global Warming heats the world up a few degrees that life will go on, They look past the obvious and assume that everything will be alright, That is certainly not the case. The drastic global climate change is affecting everything including, The Weather, Wildlife, Ecosystem, and even the Earths rotation (just to name a few)!





^ Artic Sea Ice has now surpassed ALL previous records for the lowest absolute minimum summer extent. The "stunning record low" of 4.13 million square kilometers was recorded by satelite images on September 16 (2007), According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center. The previous record , 5.32 million square kilometers, was measured on September 20-21, 2005.

We have reached our record Minimum of Artic Sea ice and its nearly Winter!

The minimum for 2007 is smaller by 1.19 million square kilometers (460,000 square miles) Than the previous low, Roughly the size of Texas and California combined, or Nearly Five United Kingdoms!

This year also saw the extended opening of the Northwest Passage through islands north of canada for the first time!

Global warming is changing distributions of plants and animals, population sizes, growth rates, timing of plant flowering, and timing of animal migration. Climate change is changing the intensity and frequency of storms, droughts and fires, raising the level of the ocean, and melting glaciers.

^ Scientific research indicates that climate change will cause Hurricanes and Tropical Storms to become more intense, last longer, unleashing stronger winds, and causing more damage to costal ecosystems and communitys.

Scientist point to higher ocean temperatures as the main culprit, Since hurricanes and tropical storms get their energy from warm water. As sea surface temperatures rise, Developing storms will contain more energy and therefor be much more strong and devistating.

Rising temperatures are changing weather and vegetation patterns across the globe, forcing animal species to migrate to new, cooler areas in order to survive. The rapid nature of climate change is likely to exceed the ability of many species to migrate or adjust. Experts predict that one-fourth of Earth’s species will be headed for extinction by 2050 if the warming trend continues at its current rate.
